Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and apply technical expertise across the project life cycle, including requirements elicitation, application architecture definition, design, and development.
- Ensure backend integrations follow best practices for the scalability and reliability of a growing global commerce business.
- Design flexible, scalable, and resilient applications and services with delivery teams so systems adapt readily to future business needs.
- Drive strategic guidance across multiple teams to keep systems high-performing, reliable, and sustainable.
- Lead solution architecture aligned to enterprise standards using reusable frameworks and components.
- Ensure end-to-end system design meets both business and technical needs.
- Develop detailed, implementable designs from conceptual ideas.
- Support system implementation across development and configuration.
- Manage architecture documentation, including current and future-state models.
- Support effort estimation for development and Quality Assurance (QA), ensuring clarity and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with business analysts to define and refine technical requirements.
- Support technology reviews and audits, and design operational support plans.
- Build proof of concepts to test new ideas while staying current on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Drive a shared vision and consistent practices across teams.
- Lead and mentor team members in building scalable, high-performance solutions.
- Drive research that informs product development and tool selection.
Skills and Experience
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Engineering or Computer Science, with 13–15 years of relevant POS experience.
- Bring 4+ years of experience architecting systems with strong end-to-end system understanding and integration expertise.
- Demonstrate 8+ years across the Oracle Retail POS Suite (Xstore, Xenvironment, Xadmin, Xcenter, and XServices), OpChain Framework, and Oracle Database.
- Apply 7+ years of hands-on experience across J2SE and J2EE.
- Develop front-end solutions with 4+ years of experience in Node.js, React.js, and Angular.
- Utilize CI/CD tools including GitLab, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions, with 2+ years of experience.
- Bring 3+ years of experience designing and managing cloud solutions spanning container services, serverless architecture, high availability, and infrastructure, where AWS is an advantage.
- Demonstrate experience with microservices and event-driven and message-driven distributed systems.
- Work with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, which is an advantage.
- Apply a strong grasp of programming and integration concepts, including publish/subscribe (pub/sub) and queuing, alongside hands-on design of resilient, fault-tolerant solutions in cloud-native environments, which is an advantage.
- Utilize monitoring and Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
- Demonstrate proven leadership in mentoring and guiding engineering teams, leveraging and strengthening the skills of both junior and senior software engineers.
- Bring experience in the retail domain, retail systems architecture, and mobile technologies, which is an advantage.
